QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university, required
CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Texas Teacher Certificate, preferred; ESL Certification, preferred

POSITION OVERVIEW:
A Bilingual Math Interventionist works with children to help them overcome their struggles in math by providing instruction, evaluating student performance, and motivating students to develop strategies and skills in the area of math.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work one on one or in small groups for the majority of the work day to help students improve their math skills
- Re-teach and/or reinforce specific math skills or concepts with struggling math students
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits
- Determine what is working and what you can improve to help students meet their goals
- Evaluate student performance for appropriate level of assignment
- Work with teachers and administrators to make recommendations on the math curriculum
- Cooperate with grade level and school wide planning committees
- Assess students' needs, strengths and weaknesses
- May be required to organize, plan and implement classroom activities and projects
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Exhibit dependability and punctuality in assigned duties
- Participate in staff development activities as assigned
- Participate in school sponsored Capturing Kids’ Hearts training
- Provide a discipline management program consistent with Capturing Kids’ Hearts
- Display appropriate personal and professional traits that exhibit a positive role model for students
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, directors and teachers
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
- Prepare written and electronic communication that is consistent, with professional and easy to understand directions or directives for each audience
- Compile, maintain and file all physical and digital reports, records and other documents required
- Assist in administration of State assessment, national assessments as requested
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Maintain emotional Control under the stress of instructional operations

Retirement is through the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas and not Social Security. TRS requires five years of participation before any retirement funds are vested. Texas Workers Compensation covers workers in this position.
Some employees are partially or fully funded with federal funds. Staff should ask their campus Director if they are paid from federal funds. Such are Federal monies and are subject to reduction and elimination at any time.
