Position Title: Substitute Teacher (Long-Term Substitute-5th/6th Grade Math)

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt: GED or HS Diploma - $80 per day/$40 per half-day
Has Degree - $100 per day/$50 per half-day

Has Valid Teaching Certificate - $120/day

Reports to: Director/Principal 
School: Campus Assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Graduate and 30 hours of college is preferred

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Ability to instruct children assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES
• Ability to stand for at least thirty minutes outside within 15 feet of students
• Ability to assist students tying shoes and button or unbutton coats

PURPOSE
• Provide instructional services to elementary students. 
• Provide a safe learning environment for all students.

** This position will be the long-term substitute for the 5th/6th grade math teacher. You will work alongside the teacher to be trained if hired before they take an extended leave. **

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional delivery
• Deliver daily instruction to students assigned
• Actively engage student in learning

Student discipline
• Maintain classroom discipline conducive to a learning environment 
• Provide redirection and disciplinary alternatives to correct student behavior 

Management
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance 
• Compile all records as requested
• Supervise students on field trips and events at the school and off site, if necessary

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
• Maintain emotional control under the stress of instructional operations 
• Be flexible in assisting others as requested 

Retirement is through a FICA Alternative Plan, 457(b), and not the Teacher Retirement System of Texas.
